Evaluation for Black Out & THE DEVILS IN DRAGS
Discuss three moments in your play that you thought were excellent.
Blackout
I think one of the best bits in the play was when James was with his mother. I think our class showed the kind of relationship between mother and son , furthermore the audience was engaged throughout the performance. I think are main positive point was how we showed the relationships between James and his granddad, James and his mother, and James mother and father.
Another good bit was when we all said "chop, stab, jail cell", it was very effective the way we all said it together and then after we said it we all sat down at the same time. This was good because it was very effective and the students from the other class were saying that they liked the way we all said it together because it was intriguing to watch.
Another good bit was when we were all saying "mom don't, please mom etc". This was good because we showed the emotions of James and how close James granddad was to him that it could turn him into something else. Also when we all say scene "13" was good because we all knew the lines by the time we were performing and it sounded more clean and professional.
However, it would have been better if we knew the line before the day we were performing the play for the first time.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOU COULD IMPROVE YOUR REHEARSAL PROCESS IN THE NEXT UNIT?
I think i need to try and be more focused because sometimes sir's is doing something with two people the rest of the class and my self will start to talk, therefore this made the process in making the play longer, therefore resulting to us almost not being able to finish the play altogether. I think we all need to be in the zoom and focused in the next unit because I think the play we are doing next is so much bigger then what we did in black out, therefore we need to take more time on the play so we may also take 2-4 terms to make the play but if we don't have long to do it we need to be super focused and in the zone at all times. In a result in me doing this I will be able to progress or as a actor.
DISCUSS IN DETAIL A MOMENT IN THE PLAY THAT YOU WERE IN THAT YOU REALLY WORKED ON
I think a moment in the play that I really worked on is when I say "A small room,Bright lines, Grey walls , A cell door". I think this because when i first did it i did not show any emotion i just said the line but i thought about my performance and I thought what does this lines really means and what is James thinking while saying this lines.
In a result to this the audience knew how James was feeling and they knew that James felt lost and confused and he didn't know which way was right and which way was wrong because everyone he really cared about was gone and were never coming back to him.
Discuss in detail a moment in the play that you weren't in that you think really worked
I think the moment with holly and kitty getting married really worked because they really showed the emotion of a broken family and the emotion of people in love and then something going wrong.
Also I thought as actors they prorated the type of marriage James mother and father had really well. I think this put the audience on James side and made them think it is not 100% his fault because of the child hood he had .
Write about another actor in the play that you were in that you thought was excellent - what did they do to make their performance excellent?
I think when Sam shaved off his hair with Edgar and said "now, no one is going to mess with me" was really good because I noticed that the audience and I believe what he was saying.
We also felt the pain he was feeling over his grandfathers death and what his father was doing to his mother by abusing her every-night. Also we saw the effect it had on James and his life at school and home.
Also the facial expressions that Sam used really inlighted the audience to further understand what kid was like for James and maybe another child in his situation of life being so bad for him or her that they decided to become a skin head.
Discuss a moment in the play that you were in that you think didn't quite work- why might this have been
I think a moment that didn't quite work was the skin head mosh because people just thought we were jumping up and down, however I don't think they really understood the true message of what the mosh represented which was, skin head just loved to go crazy and just not think at all.
I think away we could have made this better if we had more time, we could of properly analysed how to actually do a skin head mosh properly and effectively to make it more entertaining and intresting for the audience to watch and understand.
Discuss a moment in the play that you weren't in that you think didn't quite work- why might this have been
A moment in the play that I believed didn't work to the advantage of the piece was when Courtney and charlie pulled back Chloe and we went back as well I think this might have been confusing for the audience watching the play because us just moving back to suggests someone is pulling us back may not look that way through the eyes of others. hopefully with more time and practice we can make this movement more clear and understandable for everyone, the actors and the audience. It will have be even better if half of the class watch's people do the mine and comments and say what they think worked or didn't work, for example if they understood it from the other side.
Set yourself three specific target for next term
- Improve spelling in written work
- elaborate on your answers more
- learn lines quicker so you don't waste time in rehearsals
THE DEVILS IN DRAGS
I think the Devil in Drags was good because i got informed that most of the play was improvised which made it even more intriguing. Also I didn't even think it was improvised at all, this made their performance even better and more exciting. what was really good in their play was that they got the audience involved with their play with the little dance off in the end.
However, as actors something that they could improve on is know there lines because as a actor not knowing your lines is the worst thing that could happen on stage to you.
